Who is responsible for your data
SecondNature is operated by Ashlie Hempstead, who acts as the data controller for personal data collected through this website. That means we decide what is collected and why, and we are responsible for looking after it.
What we collect and why
- Order details — your name, email address, and country, received from Paddle after a purchase. Used to deliver your guide, send your receipt, and handle support or refunds. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- Support messages — anything you send us about an order or a guide, used only to answer you. Legal basis: contract and our legitimate interest in supporting customers.
- Basic usage and device data — pages visited, referring site, browser type, and IP address, used to keep the site secure and understand which guides people are looking for. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a working, secure site.
- Free sample chapters — the email address you give us to receive a sample chapter, used to send it to you and to record which guide you asked for. We do not add you to a mailing list or send you anything else. Legal basis: your consent.
Payment information
We never see or store your card details. Payments are taken by Paddle.com, our reseller and Merchant of Record, under Paddle's privacy notice.
Who we share data with
- Paddle — for the sale itself: payments, tax compliance, invoicing, and refunds.
- Service providers — hosting, file delivery, and email tools that process data only on our instructions.
- Professional advisers — accounting or legal support where necessary.
- Authorities — where we are required to by law.
International transfers
Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where data leaves the UK or EEA, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept as long as required for tax and accounting purposes (generally up to seven years). Support messages are kept while they remain useful and then deleted. An address collected for a free sample chapter is kept until you ask us to delete it. Anything no longer needed is deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, portability, or object to processing — and you can withdraw consent at any time. We respond within one month. If you are in the UK or EEA you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — encrypted connections, limited access, and reputable providers — to protect personal data against loss or unauthorised access.
Cookies
This site uses only essential cookies needed to load pages and complete checkout. Paddle may set cookies during checkout to process your payment and prevent fraud. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though checkout may not work without the essential ones.
